What is Mindfulness Meditation?

Mindfulness is a type of meditation that essentially involves focusing on your mind on the present. To be mindful is to be aware of your thoughts and actions in the present, without judging yourself.

Research suggests that mindfulness meditation may improve mood, decrease stress, and boost immune function.

I have been personally involved in mindfulness work since 1973.  I have studied a variety of modalities and techniques including Japanese, Chinese, TM based practices , Dr. Herbert Benson’s relaxation response training and Jon Kabatt Zinns technique.


My experience has shown me that the best technique is the one which you can use consistently and comfortably.  Mindfulness work can have both short and long term benefits and goals.  You do not need to be an expert meditator to gain general relaxation benefits.  Improving your skills can lead to improved focus, concentration and creativity.

I have taught Meditation courses for Kaiser Permanente and through my private practice and believe that anyone can learn to become more mindful.  I can help you learn or improve your practice and better understand the process so that it can become a successful tool in helping improve your quality of life.
